Whenever we point you to an outside tool or platform — in a blog post, a guide, wherever — we tag it with a marker on this scale, so you can tell at a glance how much room you actually have before you build anything on it.
Mainstream tools weren't built with this industry in mind, and their policies on adult content range from "totally fine" to "explicitly bans us by name" — sometimes for the exact same category of tool. This scale is our shorthand for where a given platform actually falls, based on their current terms and, where we know it, their track record of enforcement.
Built for adult creators/the industry — no ambiguity, no restriction risk.
Nothing in the current policy flags adult content — or the tool is internal-only, so nothing you make is ever public.
Generally permissive, but accounts in this space may get extra scrutiny. Keep consent/opt-in airtight.
Suggestive, glamorous, or flirty branding is fine. Nothing explicit.
Keep this one strictly professional — no innuendo. Enforcement here tends to be unpredictable.
Real chance of account action even for compliant use. Use only if you understand and accept that risk.
Policy or track record makes this a bad bet for this industry. Don't build anything on it.
Policies change — sometimes quickly, and rarely with much warning. Treat every marker on this scale as a starting point, not gospel: check a tool's current terms yourself before you build your business around it, and keep a backup of anything (designs, copy, subscriber lists, your whole site) that lives inside someone else's platform. A marker near the "OK" end today doesn't guarantee it stays there.
